  • This specimen is a naturally occurring cluster of Pyrite crystals, also known as "Fool's Gold" due to its striking metallic luster and brassy-gold hue. Formed under high-pressure conditions deep within the Earth’s crust, this example showcases the classic cubic crystal structure characteristic of Pyrite.

The surface gleams with a mirror-like finish, and the sharply defined edges reflect the mineral’s internal symmetry, an example of the isometric crystal system. Often found in hydrothermal veins and sedimentary rock layers, Pyrite played a significant role in early scientific study and was historically used to ignite early firearms through sparking.

Recovered from mineral-rich deposits in Peru, the specimen is displayed ina museum quality glass dome bell jar. It offers both a geological curiosity and an aesthetic piece, embodying the fusion of natural history and sculptural form.

    Base: Solid Oak Wood
    Mount: Stainless Steel
    Dome: Handblown 2mm tempered glass
    Dimensions: 120×160mm

The picture shown is an example of the quality that you can expect to receive. Please be aware that, as these are natural products, they are subject to some variation.

  • Name: Pyrite (Fool’s Gold)
    Location: Ancash Region, Peru
    Age: 350 million years old

Formed over millions of years in hydrothermal veins deep within the Andes Mountains, this particular cluster crystallised under intense geological pressure and heat. Iron and sulfur-rich fluids percolated through fractures in the rock, slowly precipitating into the brilliant cubic structures characteristic of Pyrite.

Skilled local mineral collectors, working in coordination with geologists, carefully extracted the specimen from a pocket of crystallized minerals, ensuring minimal damage to its delicate form. After extraction, it was meticulously cleaned and prepared by hand to preserve its natural geometry and luster, before being mounted for display.

  • From entry level items to collector’s pieces, every artefact we offer is professionally verified for its provenance, legality and authenticity by our network of suppliers and palaeontologists. Each specimen is bundled with a certificate of authenticity, documenting the artefacts age and location of discovery.

  • Each Curated piece comes with a loyalty sticker. Receive a free gift reward for every third item purchased, culminating in a captivating platinum statement piece, complimentary from Curated.
