  • Oviraptor (75 million years old)

    Timeline: Late Cretaceous

    Size: 1.6–2 m

    Range: Asia

    Diet: Partially Carnivorous

Thriving in the Late Cretaceous era, the Oviraptor was a small, feathered ovriaptorid.

First discovered in the Gobi Desert in Mongolia, the Oviraptor was estimated to be 1.6-2m long. Its skeleton suggests the creature was partially carnivorous, however the creature's jaw was toothless and instead had a horned beak which was used during feeding.

When first discovered, Oviraptors were portrayed as Egg Thieves and Egg Eaters, however this was later proven false. Studies confirm the creature brooded nests of eggs, rather than interrupt them.

  • This Oviraptor Egg Shell (75 million years old) has been mounted in a museum quality bell jar by a member of our in-house team.

Base: Solid wood hand finished in our studio

    Mount: Stainless Steel

    Dome: Handblown 2mm tempered glass

    Dimensions: 100 x 100mm
