  • This fossilised ammonite shell captivates with its deep red iridescence, a stunning display of natural mineralisation formed over approximately 75 million years. It has been displayed in a museum quality glass dome bell jar.

Once home to a marine cephalopod drifting through Late Cretaceous seas, the shell now shines with vibrant flashes of ruby, garnet, and crimson hues, an effect created by preserved aragonite layers.

Expertly prepared and mounted on a sleek base, this specimen showcases the intricate coiling and ribbing characteristic of ammonites, while its fiery colours make it a striking decorative and scientific piece. A rare fusion of geological artistry and prehistoric life.

    Base: Solid Oak Wood
    Mount: Stainless Steel
    Dome: Handblown 2mm tempered glass
    Dimensions: 100x100mm

The picture shown is an example of the quality that you can expect to receive. Please be aware that, as these are natural products, they are subject to some variation.

  • Name: Red Iridescent Ammonite
    Age: 75 Million Years Old
    Location: Canada

This ammonite’s vivid red iridescence is caused by the preservation of aragonite layers within the shell, producing rich hues ranging from deep ruby to fiery garnet. Such specimens are often referred to as “ammolite” and are prized both scientifically and as gemstones.

Found in the Bearpaw Formation, these fossils represent marine cephalopods that navigated ancient seas using buoyant, chambered shells. The rarity and size of this specimen, combined with its vibrant coloration, make it a unique testament to the intersection of natural history and mineral beauty.

  • From entry level items to collector’s pieces, every artefact we offer is professionally verified for its provenance, legality and authenticity by our network of suppliers and palaeontologists. Each specimen is bundled with a certificate of authenticity, documenting the artefacts age and location of discovery.

  • Each Curated piece comes with a loyalty sticker. Receive a free gift reward for every third item purchased, culminating in a captivating platinum statement piece, complimentary from Curated.
