Fossilised Wood is the preserved remains of ancient trees often found in sedimentary rocks. Fossilised Wood is also known as “Petrified Wood”

These ancient pieces of plant life are formed in rivers, where the tree has sunk and later been washed up in a petrified form.

The organic materials in the wood have been replaced by minerals such as silica, calcite, pyrite, opal or quartz.

Due to the petrification process, Fossilised Wood takes the form of a heavy, rock-esque specimen.

This Fossilised Wood has been displayed and elegantly mounted in a museum quality deep box frame, by our expert in-house team.
