  • This fossilised bone belonged to the woolly mammoth, which roamed the northern plains of Europe, Asia, and North America during the Late Pleistocene, around 20,000 to 40,000 years ago. Displayed in a museum quality deep box frame.

Dense and heavy, the bone shows signs of natural mineralisation and weathering from thousands of years in frozen or sediment-rich ground. Its robust form reflects the massive scale of an animal adapted to survive in Ice Age environments.

Recovered from permafrost or riverbank deposits, the specimen has been cleaned and stabilised, preserving a physical link to one of the most iconic species of the last Ice Age.

    Base: Solid Oak Wood
    Mount: Stainless Steel
    Dome: Handblown 2mm glass
    Dimensions: 100x150mm

The picture shown is an example of the quality that you can expect to receive. Please be aware that, as these are natural products, they are subject to some variation.

  • Wooly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) Bone (10,000 years old)

    Timeline: Ice Age

    Habitat: Ice Glaciers

    Size: 8 - 13 feet

The Wooly Mammoth was a large, Ice Age elephant species adapted to cold climates with thick fur, a fatty hump, and long, curved tusks. It lived across Europe, North America, and Asia, thriving in cold steppe environments during the Pleistocene Epoch.

Standing up to 4 meters tall and weighing around 6 tons, it used its tusks for digging through snow and defence. Most mammoths went extinct about 10,000 years ago due to climate change and human hunting, though a small group survived on Wrangel Island until around 4,000 years ago. Remarkably well-preserved remains have been found in Siberian permafrost, and scientists are now studying mammoth DNA in hopes of possibly bringing them back through de-extinction research.
