  • This large fossilised nautilus ammonite showcases the timeless elegance of one of the ocean’s most iconic cephalopods, dating back approximately 80 million years to the Late Cretaceous period. Displayed in a museum quality glass dome bell jar, its smooth, gently coiled shell is a study in natural symmetry and resilience.

Unlike many ammonites with heavily ribbed or ornamented shells, the nautilus’s streamlined form reveals its adaptation to a life of slow, controlled movement through ancient seas, using chambered buoyancy and jet propulsion. The glossy surface of this specimen highlights subtle growth lines and natural mineral patterns, reflecting both biological function and geological history.

A commanding presence, this large nautilus ammonite combines scientific intrigue with refined aesthetic appeal, perfect for those drawn to marine antiquity and sculptural natural forms.

    Base: Solid Oak Wood
    Mount: Stainless Steel
    Dome: Handblown 2mm tempered glass
    Dimensions: 120x160mm

The picture shown is an example of the quality that you can expect to receive. Please be aware that, as these are natural products, they are subject to some variation.

  • Name: Nautilus Ammonite
    Age: 80 Million Years Old
    Location: Madagascar

Nautilus ammonites are ancient marine cephalopods known for their smooth, tightly coiled shells divided into chambered sections used for buoyancy control. Unlike more heavily ornamented ammonites, the nautilus has remained relatively unchanged over millions of years, often called a "living fossil" due to its close modern relatives.

This extra-large specimen highlights the natural symmetry and functional design that allowed nautiluses to thrive in prehistoric oceans. Found in Madagascar, a hotspot for well-preserved marine fossils, it offers both a scientific glimpse into ancient life and a striking sculptural form.

  • From entry level items to collector’s pieces, every artefact we offer is professionally verified for its provenance, legality and authenticity by our network of suppliers and palaeontologists. Each specimen is bundled with a certificate of authenticity, documenting the artefacts age and location of discovery.

  • Each Curated piece comes with a loyalty sticker. Receive a free gift reward for every third item purchased, culminating in a captivating platinum statement piece, complimentary from Curated.
