This exceptional variant of the lunar meteorite features a highly sought-after characteristic of lunar material, resulting in a specimen that closely resembles the surface of the Moon.
Lunar Meteorites are created by asteroid or comet impacts on the surface of the moon.
These collisions generate immense force, ejecting fragments of lunar rock out into space.
Lunar origin is established by comparing the mineralogy, the chemical composition, and the isotopic composition between meteorites and samples from the Moon collected by Apollo missions.
Composing only about 0.5% of all known meteorites, Lunar meteorites are relatively rare, making them highly valuable for scientific study in order to understand the Moon’s geology.
