  • Cave Bear (Ursus spelaeus)
Timeline: Middle to Late Pleistocene (0.25–0.024 million years ago)

    Size: 2 metres in length

Range: Europe, Russia and Middle East
Habitat: Low mountainous forest with caves
    Diet: Omnivore

The cave bear is a prehistoric species of bear that lived in Europe and Asia during the Pleistocene and became extinct about 24,000 years ago during the last ice age.

Male cave bears weighed around 1000 lbs and were similar in size to today's Alaskan kodiak bear. This is about 30% larger than the brown bear.

Analysis shows many cave bears were mostly herbivorous, feeding on plants and roots. However, they did sometimes eat meat, but rather than stalk and hunt their prey, they were most likely scavengers and opportunistic carnivores.

  • This Cave Bear Tooth (25,000 Years Old) has been displayed and elegantly mounted in a museum quality deep box frame, by our expert in house team.

    Frame: Satin finished acrylic

Mount: 300 GSM acid free card stock with a 2 mm bevelled edge matboard border

Display: Self standing frame or wall hanging bracket

    Dimensions: 16 x 16 x 6 cm
